NetCreator v1.3 Plugin is Now Compatible with Cinema 4D R23

NetCreator is an open-source Cinema 4D plugin which created by 3D artist Lewis Orton, NetCreator can automatic generate cool splines structure single frame images or dynamic animation based on different kinds of objects.

For some reason the previous version of NetCreator is no longer updated and maintained by Lewis one year ago, but Lewis decide to open source this plugin so that anyone who need it can modify by themselves. I found that this plugin can produce interesting effects in some of my projects, but the previous version could not work normally under certain circumstances with relatively new Cinema 4D released version, so I do some work to modify the code and update this plugin in order to compatible with the latest version Cinema 4D R23. Now NetCreator V1.3 released under GPL-3.0 License, thanks a lot to Lewis Orton for his excellent work!

Features of NetCreator

1. Two modes. You can choose to generate splines on one object or between two objects.

2. Supports polygonal object, Thinking Particles, MoGraph objects (including Cloner Object, Matrix Object, Fracture Object, MoText Object). For MoGraph Object, NetCreator uses MoGraph Object’s elements’ positions to generate splines. And you can use effector to control Matrix points’ visibility, which opens lots of posibilities.

3. VertexMap support for polygonal object. NetCreator will only generating splines on points that have weights larger than 0.5 in assigned VertexMap.

4. Distance and Visibility control. You can randomly remove points that are used to generate splines, or animating this process.

5. Propagation for VertexMap. You can paint on part of VertexMap, and with this feature turned on, NetCreator will automatically create propagation effect for vertexmap, with fast algorithm. You can also use this feature alone to get an animating vertex map for other purposes in Cinema 4D.

Whats new in V1.3

– Fixed runtime issue in Cinema 4D R19 R20 R21 R22: there is an error infomation when parameter “Propagation” is checked:

AttributeError: type object 'c4d.plugins.NodeData' has no attribute 'GetDEnabling'Traceback (most recent call last).

– Fixed Issue where parameters “Strength” and “Size” could not coordinate unavailable as parameter “Turblence” is unchecked.

– Fixed Issues of the plugin that could not work with Cinema 4D R23, now NetCreator could perfectly compatibility with Cinema 4D R23.

– Improved: Increase parameter “Factor” in order to accurate adjustment the speed of Propagation for VertexMap if the propagation process is too fast.

How to install NetCreator

You only need to download the NetCreator-1.3 and unzip it to your “Cinema 4D RXX/plugins” folder, it contains the source codes as well.

The latest updated version of NetCreator is also open-source and free to use for everyone. You can download the latest version of NetCreator at here, It is plan to long-term maintain this plugin as long as I have time.

      I tried to download this plugin using the link in the article and found that it was downloaded normally. I am not very sure why some customers are unable to download using this link, but there are also many customers who have successfully downloaded using this link.

      I guess it may be due to some browsers having security mechanisms that prevent this download process. As my website is non-profit and belongs to a public welfare nature, it uses free HTTPS security authentication, perhaps due to the free security authentication.

      My download process is as follows: right-click on the download link with the mouse, then select “Save Connection As” from the pop-up menu, and you can start the download process. During the download process, some browsers will pop up a prompt menu saying “This website is not using a secure connection” and ask “Do you want to keep the download”. Please choose to keep the download, and it should be able to download successfully.

      If you still cannot download normally according to the above process, you can tell me in detail the problem you encountered, and I will check the specific cause.
